On 24 November 2006, the EDGE Network held its inaugural conference titled: “Embracing Change: Responses to the Emerging Economies”. This major international conference brought together top researchers in international economics, public policy, business and law, as well as business leaders and senior government representatives from Canada and around the world. The EDGE Network acknowledges the generous support of the International Development Research Centre (IDRC) for its assistance in bringing participants from emerging market economies to the conference. The occasion also marked the official launch of the EDGE Network.
