E-mail Print PDF

Professor Debra P. Steger was in Washington, D.C. from March 26 until March 30 to speak and participate in two conferences. The visit was an opportunity to inform the policy and academic communities about the goals and objectives of the EDGE Network.

Professor Steger lectured at three universities during her visit. On Monday, March 26, she spoke at the Georgetown University Law Centre on the culture of the World Trade Organisation (WTO) and why it needs to change. She also talked about the WTO Institutional Reform Project that the EDGE Network will be undertaking in the coming months.

On Tuesday, March 27, she participated in a conference at the Washington College of Law at the American University on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of its International Legal Studies Program. The subject of her lecture was, “China: The Long March towards the Rule of Law”.

Professor Steger also spoke at the George Washington University Law School on Thursday, March 29. The title of her lecture was, “WTO Doha Round: Failure or Opportunity”.

This was the first time that an international trade law expert lectured at all three law schools in Washington in the same week.

The visit was also an opportunity to discuss and plan for the WTO Reform Project that the EDGE Network is undertaking. An organizational meeting for this project will be held in London in May.
